As the University of Opportunity, we believe in offering life-changing education for our students. Many of those students are first-in-family to higher education, may be parents or carers, have a disability or be from one or more of the disadvantaged groups. All of these students have the ability to succeed, but need to be provided with the right opportunities and the right levels of support to enable them to progress through the levels and onto their degree.
The Faculty of Education, Health and Wellbeing is wishing to appoint four Academic Coaches, 1.0FTE, permanent, to join our outstanding team. You will be responsible for supporting student transition into higher education at undergraduate level, focussing on Levels 3 and 4. This will include coaching and provision of high-quality support, guidance and feedback for all students, focused on providing academic support and pastoral care, to improve engagement and facilitate independent learning. Academic Coaches will also track their students’ progress, primarily using Microsoft Excel, and will contribute to Faculty and University strategies and initiatives to strengthen student continuation.
For an informal discussion about these posts please email Gavin Rhoades, Principal Lecturer/ Head of Student Transitions via email: [email protected]
