The Department of Psychology at Lancaster University is seeking to appoint one full-time Teaching Associate for a fixed term of 9 months, to cover a period of maternity leave. The role holder will make a strong contribution to our high-quality teaching (lectures, seminars and practical classes), primarily at undergraduate level, though possibly also at MSc level. They will be willing to innovate with respect to curriculum development (programme design, implementation and assessment) as well as supervise final year dissertation students.
The role holder should have expertise of teaching in one of the following areas:
Forensic psychology and /or criminology
Cognitive Psychology
Research Methods.
The post will involve a significant teaching load, with time available for related scholarship. Full support for teaching and further career development will be provided and we have an excellent track record in supporting our fixed-term TAs to secure further employment in teaching and/or research.
The Department of Psychology at Lancaster has a core complement of approximately 45 members of academic staff and a thriving community of post-doctoral researchers and PhD students, based in four research groups (Infancy and Early Development, Language and Cognition, Perception and Action, Social Processes). The role holder will be a member of a research group within the department, appropriate to their expertise and will be free to follow their research interests where other duties allow but research activity is not part of the job description. You will possess an undergraduate and postgraduate degree in Psychology, or related discipline; a Higher Education teaching qualification would also be desirable. The successful candidates will have recent experience in teaching Psychology at University level. Experience of providing pastoral care to students is also desirable.
