The Student Success Strategic Project Lead will take a leading role in the implementation of the Student Success Sub Strategy for the University. The role will lead the implementation of the personal tutoring model across the university to enhance the inclusivity and effectiveness of academic support. It will also oversee the application of policies and procedures in relation to student casework, co-ordinate the work of the Faculty Senior Tutors and lead and advise academic members of staff who are personal tutors and oversee complex casework.
Duties and responsibilities will typically include working as part of a team to:
- Lead the implementation of an institutional wide personal tutor framework, ensuring that tutoring is undertaken consistently across the institution.
- Liaise with faculties and Student and Academic Services (SAS) to ensure that the policies, procedures and regulations that impact on students work well in practice, making recommendations for amendments to SAS where necessary.
- Develop and support the use of learner analytics, an online personal tutoring system and contribute to the Student Lifecycle Management project to ensure good resources are available to support the work of personal tutors and casework investigations.
- Support the work led by the PVC Education.
You will undertake the normal range of responsibilities for academic staff on the learning and teaching pathway, including relevant teaching, scholarship and development activities.
You will have significant experience at a senior level within an educational organisation of comparable size and complexity; significant experience of implementing frameworks that support the delivery of strategic objectives; a proven track record of collaborating with colleagues to ensure personal tutoring is consistently and effectively implemented; and significant experience of reviewing and developing student policy and procedures. You will have well-developed knowledge of policies and regulations that impact on students and the interrelationships between them, a broad understanding and appreciation of personal tutoring models, well developed organisation and management skills, good interpersonal and communication skills, strong decision-making skills and well-developed project management skills. You will typically hold a PhD or equivalent professional practice.
