The Faculty of Engineering and Science offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that are widely recognised for their academic quality, innovation and close ties to the industries in which our graduates work. We aim to ensure that we equip our graduates with the skills necessary to succeed in the workplace upon graduation and throughout their professional careers.

The School of Engineering is seeking to appoint an Associate Professor in the Chemical Engineering portfolio. The successful candidate will take an important role in the development and delivery of teaching and research in this area. Applicants must have the potential, or proven ability, to develop internationally recognised research, have excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.  We are looking for applicants with experience in Chemical Engineering with teaching knowledge in one or more of the following areas: 

  • Process Design: optimisation, systems thinking and sustainable design.
  • Development and running of design exercises
  • Safety in the Process Industries
  • Engineering of Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG, e.g. Pharma, Food, Cosmetics)
  • Biochemical Engineering especially pharmaceutical engineering

 Preference will be given to candidates who combine excellence in teaching with demonstrated capacity to conduct novel, interdisciplinary engineering research that will expand and complement the School of Engineering’s research strengths. A particular and growing strength of the school is food engineering.  However, we are equally interested by sustainable and renewable energy generation and storage solutions. Applicants with these skills will be welcomed.  However, all other areas of research will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
