The Public Engagement Officer is a post created at an exciting time for St Georges, University of London (SGUL) as we continue to work towards the delivery of our Public and Civic Engagement Strategy 2020-2024.  The Public Engagement Officer will contribute both strategically and operationally to public engagement with research, with a focus on creating and embedding a culture of public and civic engagement at the university.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with experience in public engagementwho is capable of developing, implementing and evaluating a diverse portfolio of public engagement activities, training and events. The role holder will also have a good understanding of the barriers and facilitators to public engagement with research along with knowledge of research funding opportunities for public engagement.

  • People-focused with outstanding communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent organisation and attention to detail
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with external partners, including community groups, funders and event attendees
  • High level of prioritisation and organisation to manage a high volume of work and priorities effectively
  • Strong organisational, time-management and communication skills
  • Excellent writing skills and the ability to produce fluent, clear and engaging materials
