An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Energy and Bioproducts Research Institute (EBRI) at Aston University as a Research Assistant/Associate (based on qualification and experience) to carry out social, socio-economic and policy research on bioenergy systems in the Philippines. This position offers the unique opportunity to work in a highly interdisciplinary environment and apply social science in an engineering-focused research area. 

This role is part of the Rice Straw Biogas Hub, funded by Innovate UK under Energy Catalyst Round 8. The project supports the transformation of energy access and highly innovative, market-focused energy solutions in the Global South. After successfully establishing a rice straw biogas pilot plant in the Philippines, the researcher will work with industrial, academic and third-sector partners to identify and evaluate commercialisation opportunities.

The researcher will be based at EBRI, Aston University, UK and be part of the EBRI Systems group. However, the researcher will also be required to conduct fieldwork and research activities in the Philippines.

Knowledge of bioenergy systems, renewable energy and sustainability as well as experience in social and socio-economic assessment, fieldwork and stakeholder engagement are required.
