Centre for Business Prosperity at Aston University, located in the heart of Birmingham - England’s second largest city - seeks to appoint a highly motivated and talented researcher with the ability and interest in providing excellence in research and impact in the field of International Trade and International Business Economics. 

The Research Assistant will undertake a research project on “Trade and Productivity across Regions: Understanding the Dynamics and Causal Link” funded by the Economic and Social Research Council through The Productivity Institute (TPI). 

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in economics or international business (using quantitative methods), excellent analytical and quantitative skills, a track record of producing high-quality research and excellent written and oral communication skills in English. This is a full-time position.

The TPI (productivity.ac.uk) brings together world-leading and UK researchers from a range of disciplines and backgrounds, working directly with policymakers and businesses to better understand, measure, and enable improvements in productivity across the whole of the UK, with the aim of improving living standard and well-being.


Centre for Business Prosperity (CBP) is a university Research Centre for Global Strategy. It has been actively producing excellent research and insights on global strategies of firms, regions and nations since 2018, in particular on issues related to UK trade and productivity. The mission of the CBP is to spearhead cutting-edge research, foster collaboration with stakeholders, and disseminate knowledge to enable businesses, industries, regions, and nations to cultivate effective global strategies that drive long-term success and contribute to global economic development.
