Position Overview

KU is seeking an experienced & highly motivated Research Scientist to work on a funded project to capture and analyze the features in medical data and images based on machine learning and fractal theory, to develop advanced analysis algorithms for medical data and images, which provide new perspectives and methods in bioinformatics, help doctors understand more comprehensively medical data and images, improve diagnostic accuracy and disease prediction, and support personalized healthcare.

As part of the project, the research scientist will get an opportunity to work alongside researchers and graduate students from various backgrounds as part of a wider team.

Qualifications  

Position Requirements

  • Help the principal investigator conduct research on the solution of small-scale data problem in medical data and images by establishing transfer learning models and fractal growth.
  • Have sufficient fractal theory of analysis the multiple-scale medical images by combining machine learning, drive the development of new algorithms, and improve the research of fusing multiple-scale medical images.
  • Optimize the deep learning by introducing fractal parameter to deep learning models, enhance the accuracy of machine learning models, achieve more accurate medical data and image analysis.
  • Have the professional knowledge of fractal theory, understand the role of fractal in capturing self-similarity and multi-scale structure in images, with relevant research experience is preferred.
  • Contribute to writing grant proposals, drafting papers, and attending conferences.
  • Supervise graduate students and other junior team members, while training new team personnel on analysis medical image using fractal theory.

Candidate Profile

Essential Criteria

  • PhD from a reputable university in a related discipline.
  • Have sufficient knowledge in fractal theory with good publications.
  • Experience of research project management and postgraduate-student supervision.
  • Track record of writing successful research grant proposals
  • A willingness to contribute to a collaborative and supportive team culture
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • The proven ability to lead work on multiple tasks with competing demands and deadlines.
  • Ability to train and mentor students and support fellow researchers
  • Highly developed reasoning and problem-solving skills

Desired Criteria

  • PhD degree and at least 8 years of working experience in universities or research institutes after PhD degree received.
  • High impact first-author publications record with at least five papers published in SCI Q1 journals as the first author or corresponding author.
  • Top-journal publications in fractal theory
  • Awarded and completed national-level projects as the principal investigator.
  • Successfully supervised post-graduate students.
