The Research Center on Stability, Instability, and Turbulence (SITE), New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Research Scientist to work on:

• Hydrodynamic stability analysis
• Instability and transition thresholds in flows such as Couette flow and wall-bounded flow
• Numerical and theoretical stability analysis of a boundary layer over a flat plate and bluff bodies (cylinders, airfoils…)
• High fidelity simulations of complex flow

SITE is highly interdisciplinary. SITE aims to develop novel enabling technology on hydrodynamic stability analysis that has applications in the study of the development of singularities, the long-time behavior of complex systems, the formation of spatial patterns, the transition between stability and instability, and the first steps of transition towards turbulence that appear in several disciplines across science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and innovation.

As a research scientist on the team, you will conduct research within the specified areas. You will work in collaboration with internal and external researchers. Furthermore, you will mentor and help younger researchers and students to conduct their research activities.

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics, Physics/Mechanical Engineering with demonstrated expertise in the area of Computational Fluid Dynamics and stability analysis. At least 5 years of post Ph.D. research experience in the field is required. PhD holders with a strong publication record, a background in computational fluid dynamics, laminar to turbulence transition, and vortex dynamics are encouraged to apply. Experience in high-performance computing is required.
