Offer Description

Description

The Literature and Creative Writing Program at New York University Abu Dhabi seeks multiple appointments for a tenure-track professor (open-rank, Assistant/Associate/Full Professor). Knowledge of works of literature from different global regions (Middle East, South Asia, Africa, Asia) and translation or multilingual approaches to writing is preferred. The candidate should be comfortable teaching and writing in two or more genres (e.g., fiction and poetry) and have experience teaching literary studies globally. The candidates will contribute to a unique master of fine arts in translation and creative writing. The hired professors must also be rooted in writing practice, have publishing experience, and demonstrate a passion for teaching.

We are eager to welcome a colleague whose experiences, training, and practices will contribute to our efforts in developing the richly diverse landscape of artists and artistic production. We seek an established educator and a scholar experienced in developing innovative curriculum with a strong pedagogical focus on bridging theory and practice and interested in forging interdisciplinary connections at NYUAD and globally.

The teaching load for the year is typically three courses (typically 2 in Fall, 1 in Spring) plus capstone thesis advising. Teaching duties may also include courses in the NYUAD Core Curriculum, with several creative writing-oriented course offerings.
