Position Overview

KU is seeking a highly motivated Post-doctoral Fellow to work on Magnetometer and Gas sensors.

Many emerging applications in wireless sensors, sensors networks, and Internet of Things (IoT) involve sensing multiple physical, chemical, and environmental parameters. With the increasing demand for these applications, there is a need for measuring many parameters in a sensor system. Recently, several studies have focused on designing and developing multifunctional integrated sensors for multi-parameter monitoring and detecting applications. Combining multifunctional sensors leads to compact systems, simplifies the fabrication process, and reduces the cost, size, and power consumption. Hence, achieving a single-sensor device that can simultaneously multi- parameters without cross-talk sensing functionality is indeed desirable. This type of sensor offers several benefits, including minimized the device size, reduced complexity, improved accuracy, and cost-effective implementation in various Applications.

In this project, we will explore new mechanisms to develop a highly sensitive/selective detection system for gas concentration and magnetic using a single device in microscale range. We  believed effectively  proposed a deep investigation into coupling the dynamic behavior of micro-resonators with 2D/polymeric material  can achieve high performance sensor.

The project will be organized around 2 main activities:

• Fabricated a 2D material for simultaneous magnetic and gas detection
• Designing /simulating micro-resonator  for 3 -axis magnetic sensors

The Post-doctoral fellow will be actively engaged in student mentoring (directed research, Masters thesis students). He/She will also be in charge of developing further the facilities of the laboratory. He/She will help to build the experimental gas sensors setup.  In addition, the expectation of his role is to focus on lab/equipment support and research project operations.

Position Requirements

Essential Criteria

• PhD from a reputable university in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience writing scientific or review papers;
• A willingness to contribute to a collaborative and supportive team culture
• Excellent English language communication skills (verbal and written)
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• The proven ability to work on multiple tasks with competing demands and deadlines.1
• Ability to train and mentor students and support fellow researchers
• Highly developed reasoning and problem-solving skills

Desired Criteria

• PhD gained from a top 200 QS or THE ranked University
• At least 3 years of relevant experience as a Post-doctoral researcher in academia or in industry.
• High impact first-author publications in top 10% journals in the relevant field
