The School of International Studies of the University of Trento invites candidates active in International Law to apply for one position at the Assistant Professor level. The posts are for a three-year period. The gross annual salary is about 35.000 Euros. The area of research is International Law.
Requested research duties: The post-doc fellow will conduct research in International Law, with particular reference to corporate social responsibility and due diligence obligations and standards related to the ecosystem protection, sustainability, and human rights.
The fellowship is co-financed by the Italian Ministry for University and Research under the REACT-EU Plan, and aims to promote research in areas related to environmental protection and the green transition.
The post holder will study the interactions among international, European and national standards, questioning both their mutual consistency and their actual implementation by companies, including small and medium enterprises. It will also investigate the legal implications of corporate social responsibility instruments, with a view to developing effective solutions and possible guidelines (e.g., appropriate verification tools for suppliers and business partners, compliance with minimum environmental criteria, dialogue with stakeholders, understanding of complaints and mitigation mechanisms).
The project will address both environmental and social dimensions of sustainability through the study of legal instruments that require companies to make their production processes sustainable along the entire supply chain. Specific attention will be paid to recent EU legislation as well as to initiatives related to Sustainable Development Goal 12 “Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns”.
Research activities will be carried out in collaboration with faculty members of the SIS within the research clusters on environment, human rights and European studies. The SIS encourages a multidisciplinary approach.
The post-doc will collaborate with researchers based at Fraunhofer Italia Research (located in Bolzano), where (s)he will spend a six-month research period. This should enhance the transfer of knowledge outside academia and deepen the scientific, social and economic impact of research on issues related to the green transition, ecosystem conservation, biodiversity protection and climate change mitigation.
Requested teaching duties: Teaching activities will be undertaken in English and target students of the Master’s degrees offered by the SIS. Activities will include the organisation of autonomous workshops and the creation of modules within existing courses (e.g. Global Markets and Security; Human Rights and Natural Resources; Natural Resources and Energy Security). In addition, the research scholar will collaborate in activities connected with the management of the SIS’s teaching programmes.
The overall annual hours of work: 1,500 hours per year.
Foreign language: excellent level of English
Italian: level adequate to carry out the assigned teaching load
Maximum number of publications to be presented: 12.
