Offer Description

Two German-speaking research assistants

The Public Policy Group / Immigration Policy Lab at ETH Zurich invite applications for two research assistant positions.

Project background

The position supports our research agenda to develop safe and effective measures to curb harmful online content and strengthen public discourse. As part of our efforts, we are using state-of-the-art machine learning techniques and natural language processing to algorithmically detect hate speech across a variety of online venues (newspaper and social media). To do so, we need an up-to-date, high-quality corpus of training data.

Job description

Your task will be to annotate comments collected from online forums of Swiss newspapers according to whether they contain hate speech or not. You will receive a new set of comments each week that you can annotate flexibly within a given week using a simple interface provided by us, which can also be used on the phone. Remote work is possible.

Your profile

You are currently studying at a Swiss university, are independent and reliable and have a structured, precise working style. You are a (Swiss-) German native speaker and have a strong command of English and German.

We offer

The position is secured for 6 months starting mid-February 2024. You will be integrated into a dedicated research team and remunerated in accordance with ETH guidelines.
