The Faculty of Biology and Medicine (FBM) of the University of Lausanne is inviting applications for the position of:

Tenure Track Assistant Professor towards Associate Professor
in Microbial cell biology at the Department of Fundamental Microbiology (DMF)

Starting date: Autumn 2023 or to be agreed
Place: Lausanne, Switzerland

Main missions:
• The successful candidate is expected to develop an internationally recognized research program funded by external sources in the area of microbial cell biology (bacteria, archaea, eukaryotes), such as, for example, fundamental aspects of cell organisation and cell division, structural or membrane biology.

• She/he will also supervise master and doctoral students and participate in the teaching activities of the Department, especially in the fields of (microbial) cell biology.

Desired profile:
• The Department of Fundamental Microbiology is looking for an outstanding and enthusiastic junior individual with a proven record of excellent research achievements, ideas and successful funding applications.

• PhD in Microbiology, Cell Biology or related field, and independent postdoctoral research experience.

• Prior knowledge of French is not required, but the incumbent will be called upon to teach in French after a period of adaptation (LM or minimum B2 level, C1 ideal).

The Department has excellent experimental facilities and access to state-of-the-art imaging, metabolomics, proteomics and genomics platforms on campus. Of particular interest are links to the Dubochet Centre of Imaging with advanced cryo-EM technology.

A start-up package as well as a yearly research allowance for positions and consumables will be available within a dynamic research environment.
