Student Research Assistant for web application development


We are an interdisciplinary lab studying social and behavioral phenomena using network concepts. Members of the lab actively develop theories, methods and software in a variety of domains, for our own empirical studies and for our collaborative endeavors across multiple discplines.


Job description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Research Assistant to join our team at the Social Networks Lab (Prof. Christoph Stadtfeld) and contribute to the development of a web application that integrates music streaming API and network data collection. Your primary responsibility will involve creating and maintaining a web application integrating digital and survey data collection workflows to enhance our research project.


Your profile
  • currently enrolled as a student at a Swiss university
  • practical experience in the development of responsive web applications (frontend and backend, with focus on the backend)
  • strong attention to detail, a creative mindset to innovate and optimize processes
  • very good knowledge of JavaScript / TypeScript and a framework similar to vue.js or react
  • experience with collaboration platforms like GitHub or GitLab, continuous integration, automation and documentation
  • good command of Python or .Net is a plus
  • interest and knowledge in working with music streaming APIs (e.g., Spotify, Deezer, last.fm) and network data collection are highly desirable
  • familiarity with Node.jsMongoDB/MySQL, and Docker would add value to your application
  • ability to work in teams but also working independently and on your own responsibility
