Join a team of scientists improving the long-term prognosis and treatment of Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) through mobile and wearable systems and personalized health monitoring

Joining the SCAI Lab part of the Sensory-Motor Systems Lab at ETH, you will have the unique opportunity of working at one of the largest and most prestigious health providers in Switzerland: Swiss Paraplegic Center (SPZ) in Nottwil (LU).


    Project background

    SCAI Lab Student Assistant at ETH Zurich in collaboration with the Swiss Paraplegic Center (SPZ) at Nottwil. Within the framework of lifelong medical and social care, we are working with the SPZ to understand the causes and model the human body conditions resulting from spinal cord injury.


    Job description

    We are looking for a student assistant to support the data management plan, data engineering and software stack design.

    Create algorithms, tools, and HMI for data retrieval and exploration interacting with different projects on motion analysis, rehabilitation & embodied sensing from wearables. Analysing data quantity and quality (40%) visualisation and graphical mapping (20%), validation, testing, and benchmarking ML algorithms (30%) and writing documentation (10%).

    Starting Date: June 2023 (or shortly thereafter) 


    Your profile
    • Student of a Swiss university or university of applied sciences (ETH Zurich, EPFL)
    • Availability during the semester: 10~15 hours/week (1 day/week in Nottwil) - others in Zurich (to be discussed) 
    • Further availability during semester break: ~3+ days/week, to be discussed
    • Knowledge of bash, python and data management principles
    • Computer Systems and Network understanding (linux)
    • Experience in databases (strongly preferred) - SQL
    • ML and DL experience (preferred)
    • Experience with Robotics Operating System (ROS) - (desirable)
