Student assistant - Data extraction in virtual reality application

The chair of Forest Resources Management (FORM) is looking for a student to help constructing a dataset of tree microhabitats from lidar data.

Job description

We possess a rich collection of 3D scans featuring diverse microhabitats on trees. Your task will be to extract and isolate the microhabitats for each tree using a highly intuitive virtual reality application. The estimated time to complete the task is about 20 hours.

Your profile
  • You are a student enrolled at ETH or in a Swiss University
  • Ideally you are majoring in forest and landscape management and have some knowledge about dendrology and/ or tree microhabitats
  • You are enthusiastic and wiling to embrace emerging technologies - no previous experience is necessary
  • You can start immediatly and complete the given task in the coming 1-3 months
