Project background

KOF's new research division, KOF Lab, is looking for a motivated, well organized research assistant with interest in academic seeding and funding. At KOF Lab we develop, test and implement new approaches and frameworks for future research. We cooperate with thematically and methodologically related researchers at ETH, in Switzerland and beyond. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be part of the seeding phase of a new section at KOF, learn to use academic funding opportunities and grow one's personal network across institutions in Switzerland.


Job description

The project at hand explores opportunities related to KOF's own data, processing of economic data in general and dissemination of data related competences.Your responsibilities will include doing research on funding opportunities from ETH board tenders to various opportunities at the Swiss National Science Foundation as well as in federal and international portals. You will actively take part in meetings and facilitate communication with internal and external partners.

  • excellent command of English AND German is required
  • 'ownership of task' mindset is important to succeed
  • experience in working with (economic) data is a plus
  • experience with an open source programming language and community such as R or Python is a plus

Your profile

You must be enrolled at a Swiss University and willing to work between 1 to 2 days per week (15h). At KOF, working time is typically handled very flexibly such that you can take time to study for exams or fulfil other obligations for your studies while coordinating with the research staff at KOF when tasks need to be completed. Ideally, we are looking for individuals who can stay employed as a student assistant for at least one year (e.g., while taking courses for their Bachelor's or Master's degree), possibly longer.
