Your mission :
As a software engineer, you will work for the development of a platform for online analysis services in the domain of astronomy (including gamma-ray and multi-messenger astronomy).


Main duties and responsibilities include :

The software engineer will join a diverse dynamic team developing cutting-edge approaches to computing and knowledge management for applications in astronomy. In particular, the successful applicant will:

  • Participate in the development of the web-based platform for astronomical data analysis (integration of data analysis workflows of specific telescopes in the platform, continuous integration and deployment, validation, benchmarking, front-end development), integration of FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) data management principles, promotion of Open Research Data (ORD);
  • Participate in the maintenance and user support of diverse web-based scientific data analysis services

Your profile :

You should consider yourself as a good candidate if you tick many of the points below:

  • You have experience in software development, general knowledge of scientific programming libraries, and specifically of Python ecosystem
  • You have experience in developing web applications including web frontend development skills
  • You have experience container-based virtualization technology (Docker, Singularity) and orchestration (Kubernetes, GitOps);
  • You have experience production tools for code management, testing and validation, continuous integration and documentation (GitHub, GitLab)
  • You are fluent in English (C1 level or better)
