inspire AG, which works in close cooperation with ETH Zurich, conducts basic and application- oriented research in many fields of production technology. It is the leading Swiss competence centre for technology transfer to the mechanical, electrical and metal industries. The fields of work range from production machines to manufacturing processes and machine simulation to virtual reality.

Job description

In close contact with our industrial partners, you will be responsible for a wide range of tasks in the field of motion control for high-precision motion systems. With the help of accurate sensor technology, modern drive technology and sophisticated algorithms, you will contribute to meet the ever-increasing demands on the productivity and precision of novel production systems. At the beginning, you will be jointly responsible for an industrial project with a leading Swiss manufacturer of drive systems. In the future your field of activity might also include the far east region for promoting our Optimization Software MORe.


Your profile

The following applies to you:

  • You have a Master’s degree in Automation Science and Electrical Engineering
  • You have a PhD degree in the field of control technology
  • You have profound knowledge and experience in the control technology of high- precision mechatronic systems
  • You are well experienced in frequency response disturbance observer design
  • You are experienced in teaching feedback control classes on master level
  • You are familiar with design and system identification of mechatronic systems
  • You are experienced in sensor technology for motion detection in general and acceleration sensor technology in particular.
  • You have basic knowledge in developing and testing algorithms for signal processing.
  • You recently contributed publications in IET Control Theory & Application, IEET Journal of Industry Applications and on the ACC American Control Conference
  • You have a very good knowledge level of English (Toefl > 100 pts), good knowledge in Japanese and/or Mandarin would be advantageous
  • You like to work independently and with a high level of personal competence
  • You enjoy solving difficult problems in a challenging industrial environment
