The department of Management, Technology, and Economics (MTEC) offers master level education, and its staff conducts basic and applied research in management, economics, systems dynamics, and risk. Much of our research aims at improving the understanding of the complex interactions between technology, organizations, societies, and economies.

Job description

At ETH Zurich, senior researchers are expected to integrate into the research teams, teach one or two courses per year, tutor master and PhD students, and pursue a joint research agenda at the highest level of international standards. The position is normally limited to six years and interested candidates aim to achieve the status of PD at ETH Zurich (Privatdozent) through their habilitation.

Examples of ongoing research covers open innovation, online communities and their interactions with firms, knowledge-based view of organizations. Our work tends to have a strong empirical grounding in several industries including biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, information and communication technologies, and professional services.

ETH Zurich offers attractive salary conditions. The department is situated in an excellent location in the center of Zurich (consistently ranked as one of the world’s premier cities in terms of living standards). The position will commence at 70% employment and be subsequently increased to 100%. The starting date is May 2022.

The Chair of Strategic Management and Innovation at ETH Zurich (Group head: Prof. Dr. Georg von Krogh), is searching for a Senior Researcher and Lecturer with a PhD in management or other social sciences. The candidate must have strong academic ambitions and objectives, and her/his profile must match our team’s focus areas in teaching and research. Through the work on her/his doctoral dissertation, the preferred candidate has demonstrated high quality of research outputs, ideally with 1-3 papers under revision or accepted for publication in international refereed journals.
