The Mobiliar Lab for Analytics at ETH Zurich explores how new technologies can improve human-computer interactions and bring value to society: Can virtual reality reduce stress or augmented reality improve learning? Can chatbots foster trust or telematics improve road safety? As a joint initiative of ETH Zurich and Swiss insurance company die Mobiliar we use data from real-world and experimental settings to answer these questions. Our interdisciplinary research draws on disciplines such as data science, psychology, and computer science. We are offering a position as designated Scientific Director of the Lab starting January 2023 or later.


Job description

In view of recruiting a new generation of four doctoral students, you will further develop the Lab’s research focus and define new interdisciplinary projects in collaboration with the Lab Director. After a transitional phase in 2023 (during which flexible employment from 40-100% is possible) you will drive the Lab’s research and supervise its doctoral students. You are responsible for the scientific, and methodological quality of the new projects and contribute to ensuring the Lab’s connection between academia, industry, and society. As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will be associated with the Chair of Technology Marketing.


Your profile

We welcome highly motivated, open-minded, and curious applicants with

  • completed PhD in disciplines related to human-computer interaction (relevant disciplines include but are not limited to Computer Science, Psychology, Marketing, Data Science)
  • interest in shaping and working on applied research projects at the intersection between academia, industry, and society
  • proficiency in written and spoken English, speaking German is a plus
  • previous experience in the industry is an advantage
