The School of Life Sciences of EPFL Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne invites applications for a position of a research technician to work in the interface of the Proteomics and Histology Core facilities (PCF,

The SV Core Facilities provide access to state-of-the-art technologies and expertise enabling scientists to conduct more advanced and complex experiments. In addition, the facilities provide training and support to researchers, helping them to become proficient in using the equipment and techniques available. By providing these resources and support, SV Core Facilities help to foster a collaborative and productive research environment.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual with a strong understanding of mass spectrometry-based proteomics to work in the interface between the Proteomics and the Histology platform as part of a collaborative project towards establishing spatial micro-proteomics. This role involves designing and executing experiments, optimization of sample preparation workflows and data analysis.


Main duties and responsibilities include :
  • Design, implement, and troubleshoot mass spectrometry-based proteomics experiments, both independently and in collaboration with colleagues, to reach desired goals.
  • Prepare samples for spatial micro-proteomics analysis, including tissue micro-dissection and protein extraction.
  • Benchmark different sample preparation workflows towards the development of a miniaturized reaction for bottom-up proteomics.
  • Analyze and interpret mass spectrometry data using specialized software.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of experiments and data analysis.
  • Follow good laboratory practices and maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Your profile :
  • Masters in life science or equivalent with experience in proteomics/mass spectrometry (hands-on experience is an asset).
  • Wet lab experience with tissue, in particular Laser Capture microdissection, would be a plus.
  • A strong and independent problem-solver, agile individual who enjoys working in cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
