The Research Unit Biodiversity and Conservation Biology studies the diversity of life, from genetic diversity to species and habitat diversity, as well as their interactions. Starting in January 2023, the research group Ecological Genetics offers a two-year position for a (f/m/d)

Scientific collaborator in conservation genomics (40%)

You are engaged in applied conservation genetics projects, in particular employing genomic methods. In close collaboration with the team members, you will carry out on-going projects on plants and animals of conservation concern in Switzerland. Your activities involve project planning, field work, data acquisition, bioinformatic data processing, population genetic analyses, and publication of results in scientific journals. You further support the communication of research findings to practitioners.

You have a doctorate in biology or environmental sciences, provide solid knowledge of evolutionary, population and conservation genetic principles, are experienced in a broad range of molecular lab work and marker types as well as in the analysis of genomic data, including a high level of bioinformatic skills, and are capable of fast acquisition of new skills. You are fluent in English and adept at writing publications, you preferably have a good understanding of oral/written German or French, and feel comfortable working with practitioners. Working independently, flexibly and accurately is one of your strengths, as is teamwork.
