We are looking for a Verification Engineer with a robotics software background to join our A-team of product developers and robot enthusiasts. You will work closely with our Product Development and R&D Engineers to ensure the reliability and functionality of our robots through a combination of testing and simulation techniques. In addition, you will actively identify areas for improvement and perform failure analysis on our robots and sub-systems. You have a natural curiosity and enjoy investigating root causes, as well as possessing an eclectic set of interests that allows you to tackle different topics with ease. Effective communication is key in this role, as you will be collaborating with a diverse team of professionals. Ultimately, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of our products by contributing to the development of new tools and capabilities, and by constantly seeking to improve our verification processes.


Project background

ANYbotics transforms industrial plants in the energy, process, and utility sector by introducing robotics to a wide range of novel applications that so far were beyond reach. Our customers are large asset operators and industrial service providers pioneering the use of robotics technology for inspection and maintenance. Our mobile robot ANYmal uses legs for extreme mobility in complex environments, camera- and LIDAR-based sensing for full autonomy and obstacle avoidance, and AI for high-quality and consistent inspection results. We develop numerous customized hardware systems, including the entire robotic platform, actuators, sensors, inspection payloads, charging systems, and all related ANYbotics mechanical hardware.


Job description
  • Validate mechatronic designs and systems with a fact-based approach
  • Design, utilize and maintain test facilities, instruments and rigs
  • Establish the technological boundaries of our designs by means stress tests
  • Perform failure analysis of robots deployed in the field
  • Collaborate with the product, R&D and software teams on system validation
  • Assisting engineers on the use of testing equipment, techniques and know-hows
  • Create documentation (e.g. test reports, failure investigations, etc.)

Your profile
  • You achieved a University degree in engineering with a focus on robotics or software engineering
  • You have at least 3 years of professional experience, or have achieved a PhD in a robotics related field
  • Experience in developing and performing tests of robotics systems
  • Experience in coding mechatronic control systems with python and C++
  • Experience in data analysis coding in python or similar
  • Excellent language skills in English, both oral and in written

Bonus Points

  • Familiarity with electrical systems, PCB and cabling
  • Familiarity with environmental and reliability tests of mechatronic systems
  • Familiarity in managing test equipment and environments
  • Familiarity with CAD systems and engineering drawings
