The Department for Endocrinology, Diabetology and Clinical Nutrition of the University Hospital Zurich, is looking to appoint a Researcher / Technical Assistant (50-60%) in the context of the newly approved University Research Priority Program ITINERARE: Innovative Therapies in Rare Diseases - Challenges and Opportunities. The candidate's main duty is to advance a research project investigating potential therapeutic opportunities to treat endocrine tumors caused by mutations in ion channels and transporters. The project will be carried out in collaboration with the Electrophysiology Facility (e-phac) of the University of Zurich. The primary location of research will be in the Irchel Campus of UZH.
Your responsibilities
The candidate main duties include:
  • Design and execute functional characterization of ion channels and transporters using electrophysiological and image-based techniques.
  • Independent implementation of biological experiments such as cell culture, cloning, CRISPR-Cas9, Western blot, PCR, qRT-PCR, ELISA, histology, immunostaining and microscopy
  • Operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment

Your profile
Required skills:
  • Experience in electrophysiological techniques including Patch Clamp and TEVC. High Throughput Automated Patch Clamp would be an asset
  • Experience in cell culture and molecular biology techniques
  • Good communication skills in English and German (plus)
