Research Projects Finance Officer (maternity leave replacement)

Founded in 1991, CSCS, the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre, develops and operates cutting-edge high-performance computing systems as an essential service facility for science. The centre enables world-class research with a scientific user lab that is available to domestic and international researchers. CSCS's resources are open to academia and are available as well to users from industry and the business sector. The centre is operated by ETH Zurich and is located in Lugano with additional offices in Zurich.

CSCS is involved in different roles in various European and Swiss research projects. To support the work of our Research Collaboration Team we are looking to recruit for a maternity leave replacement a Research Projects Finance Officer. You will be in charge to support and contribute to financial and accounting aspects of research projects in the European Framework programmes of European Commission as in additional research initiatives financed by SERI/SBFI (State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation funded projects). We offer you a 40-80% employment contract, starting asap but no later than July 2023 for 6 to 12 months. We are flexible on the work % and the work location (either Zürich or Lugano).

Job description

As Research Projects Finance Officer, you will be collaborating within a small team of international research collaboration projects and initiatives. You will be resonsible for financial reporting and accounting of research projects in the European Framework Programmes of the European Commission as well as for Swiss research initiatives (SERI/SBFI, State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation funded projects). Furthermore, you will be prepare and deliver the financial reports including the financial accounting, budgeting, controlling and reporting in timely, effective and efficient manner. In addition, you will ensure compliance with eligibility rules of project expenditures (Horizon 2020, SERI/SBFI etc.), while monitoring monthly financial spending of project budgets is essential. You will maintain contacts and supporting financial department of ETH Zurich in preparation, execution, and follow-up of project audits.

Your profile

• You already have experience in the administrative financial area.
• You already have experience in financial reporting’s.
• Your strengths include precise and pragmatic way of working, but a attention to details goes hand to hand the capability for keeping an overview.
• You are a person who learns rapidly and can take on tasks independently but is also not hesitant to ask questions and is used to work very closely in a small team.
• With your stylistically confident English skills, you can easily communicate orally as well as in writing in our international environment. Any additional language (in particular German is an asset).
