We have been working with a large amount of tabular data, text data, and graph-structured data at the Chair of Applied Economics. Data sources involved are global firm ownership data, scholarly publication data and patent data. To support further projects at our chair, we are looking for research assistants who are willing to contribute to text classifications, record linkages (incl. deduplication) and node classification/link prediction in graph-structured data.
The position will start as soon as possible. 


Job description

Task 1: Record linkages and deduplication between large datasets.

Task 2: Text classification using neural networks.

Task 3: Node classification/link prediction in graph-structured data in networks such as scholarly publication networks.

You are encouraged to apply just for a single task. You might be conducting the tasks in a team or individually.


Your profile

- Master student from ETH/Uni. Ideally, in the field of computer science or data science.

- Skill set

  • For all tasks: Python
  • Task 1:
  • Task 2:
    • Experience with popular deep-learning libraries (e.g., Keras, TensorFlow, or PyTorch)
    • Experience with state-of-the-art NLP models, e.g., Transformer and Hugging Face
  • Task 3:

- Language: English.

- OS: Windows, Linux (CPU/GPU servers).

- You can work 20% during the semester and full time during the semester break.
