The Chemical Biology & Therapeutics group in NIBR is looking for a talented and motivated recent Masters graduate for a 6-months internship to work on cutting edge methods and algorithms for single cell analysis. The student will gain an in depth understanding of cutting edge technologies in single cell RNAseq, will be involved with different project teams in a diversity of biological areas, and will be able to develop a broad understanding of drug discovery and specifically computational methods for early drug discovery research.
The successful applicant will be working in the Chemical Biology & Therapeutics Informatics (CBTi) group to implement, explore and extend several publicly available approaches and visualization tools for single cell RNAseq analysis. The aim is to benchmark multiple algorithms on large datasets where the main focus will be on: methods for quality control, clustering, identification of cell-type specific markers, innovative methods for comparison of different cell populations.
Recent Masters graduate with quantitative background (applied mathematics, physics, bioinformatics or related field). Excellent oral and written English, any other language considered a plus. Solid programming skills in R and/or python. Hands-on experience with Linux. Ability to develop, implement, and benchmark algorithms. Previous experience in omics data analysis is a plus. Interest in expanding knowledge of biological sciences and desire to learn.
