The Department Biosystems (D-BSSE) of ETH Zürich, Roche’s Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development organisation (pRED) and the Roche Institute for Translational Bioengineering (ITB) have jointly developed two new programmes for doctoral students and postdoctoral scientists. These two highly competitive programmes aim to contribute to the most urgent medical needs and support the next generation of bioengineers in developing solution-driven applications.


Job description

We are looking for a programme officer. In this role, you will establish and coordinate these two new programmes. This includes:

  • Establishing and overall administrating the two programmes
  • Organization of annual meetings for doctoral students, postdocs and faculty members as well as regular meetings on strategic research areas of the programmes
  • Coordination of lecture series including inviting and hosting international speakers
  • Establishing and Maintaining the website and social media presence
  • Ensuring, in collaboration with D-BSSE’s doctorate administration, that all requirements of the ETH Doctoral Ordinance are met
  • Financial management of the programmes

The position is initially for three years with the option to extend.


Your profile

You have a doctorate degree in the fields of biological or biomedical sciences, computer sciences, bioengineering or a related field and some previous experience in running academic and/or industrial programmes. Strong planning, organizational skills and an efficient working style are a must. You have a high proficiency in both English and German (writing and speaking). You have excellent communication skills and are able to work in a group with members from diverse, international, and interdisciplinary backgrounds.
