The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Zurich invites applications for a
Professorship of Paraplegiology
starting on August 1, 2024.
The professorship is associated with the position as chief physician and head of the Spinal Cord Injury Center and the associated research group at the Balgrist University Hospital Zurich.
The successful candidate has a clinical and research focus on paraplegia. A specialized title in neurology is preferred but not required. The research should be both translational and clinical. The person is a physician scientist who has demonstrated to have developed clinical, research and teaching activities in paraplegia at an internationally competitive level including competitive extramural funding in a promising and innovative area of research.
The Spinal Cord Injury Center is specialized in the evaluation and treatment of patients with spinal cord injury and disorders. The successful candidate will coordinate an interdisciplinary and interprofessional team which ensures the comprehensive care from acute treatment to long-term follow-up. The highly specialized center is also the direct contact point for patients and referring physicians for any medical complications arising in the context of paralysis and has the public mandate to treat patients with spinal cord injury and disorders.
German language skills (level B2 of the common European framework of reference for languages) are required for this position. If not already present, corresponding language skills must be acquired within a reasonable period of time.
