The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Zurich invites applications for the following ac-ademic position (start date August 1st, 2023):
Professorship for Pediatric Neurology
The Department of Neuropediatrics is integrated as an independent unit within the Medical Department at the University Children's Hospital. It is foreseen that the Chair of Pediatric Neurology will be appointed as director of the Department of Neuropediatrics.
Scientific foci within pediatric neurology are congenital metabolic defects with neurological manifestations and infantile epileptic encephalopathies. New foci can be developed according to the profile of the successful candidate.
Zurich offers an excellent academic environment with the opportunity for interdisciplinary collaboration with groups at the Children's Hospital, at the University of Zurich and at ETH Zurich. The successful candidate is an integrative leader able to develop pediatric neurology academically and clinically with high national and international visibility. Several years of experience in leading a clinical team and a research group as well as a proven track record of successful acquisition of competitive third-party funding are therefore required.
Future collaboration in the University research focus "ITINERARE - Innovative Therapies for Rare Diseases" is desired.
The candidate shall be team-oriented, committed to interdisciplinary collaboration, and highly motivated to promote junior pediatricians and scientists. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure are expected.
German language skills at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages should be available or must be acquired within a reasonable period of time.
