Postdoctoral Researcher - Machine Learning with medical applications

The research group headed by Professor Julia Vogt is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with a strong machine learning background, ideally in the area of interpretable and explainable ML or medical imaging, starting by agreement. You should be interested in working in an interdisciplinary environment at the interface of Machine Learning, Medicine and Health Care.


Job description
  • You will interact and collaborate closely with both faculty and graduate students in our research group, as well as with interdisciplinary collaborators from the medical domain.
  • You will work on foundational machine learning challenges and will lead projects.
  • You will have the possibility to participate in basic, translational science that brings novel machine learning techniques into impactful biomedical applications. 
  • Machine learning topics of interest include but are not limited to, interpretable and explainable ML, medical imaging, probabilistic modelling, deep learning, time-series modelling, generative models, and integrating multi-modal data.
  • Our group conducts research at the intersection of machine learning and healthcare, and our research topics are inspired by the challenges which arise by dealing with medical data.

Your profile

You should have a PhD degree in:

  • Computer Science
  • Mathematics
  • Statistics
  • or related fields, with a strong publication record in top conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, AISTATS, AAAI, KDD, JMLR, MICCAI or TMI publication etc.

Experience in working on medical or biological data is not required, but applicants must bring a keen interest in the problems of the field.
