The Institute of Physiology of the University of Zurich is located at the Irchel campus, which offers a strong academic environment and first-class research facilities. The Institute houses seven professorships/research groups and three integration groups.
Your responsibilities
The research project is dedicated to the study of sialic acid-binding siglecs in regulating intestinal immunity in mouse models. The work includes the application of bacterial enzymes modifying cellular sialylated glycans to assess their impact on the activation of T- and B-cells. The objective of the project is to develop probiotic treatments for inflammatory bowel disease and autoimmune disorders.
Your profile
The candidate should have a strong background in immunology and experience in microbiology. A FELASA-certified education and training in carrying out procedures on rodents is mandatory. Background in molecular and cell biology is required. The candidate should be able to work independently but also to supervise students and participate in teaching activities. Teamwork and communication skills in English (spoken and written) are of high importance.

Start of employment
The position is available by June 2023 or later. The position is initially open for three years, with possible extension conditional on of a successful research project including the acquisition of competitive funding.
