The Department for Endocrinology, Diabetology and Clinical Nutrition of the University Hospital Zurich, aims to appoint a position for a postdoctoral fellow. We are seeking highly talented and motivated scientists who will plan and execute experimental research projects in the field of endocrine related hypertension. The SNF funded project is building on existing animal models and is further embedded in different local, national and international consortia including the Hypertension Research Network HYRENE, the URPP ITINERARE, and the ENSAT network. We are seeking to explore mechanisms that result in adrenal autonomy and tumorigenesis as identified in patients with primary aldosteronism and endogenous hypercortisolism.
Your responsibilities
  • Experimental design and analysis of phenotypic experiments in mouse models of endocrine hypertension.
  • Hormone assays and measurements
  • Morphological analysis and immunohistochemistry
  • Gene expression analysis (qPCR...)
  • Systemic administration of specific antagonists/agonists
  • Functional in vitro assays with adrenal cell models as well as primary murine and human cells
  • Contribute to writing of scientific manuscripts, animal experimentation licenses and research grants.

Your profile
Eligible candidates for should hold a FELASA B certificate (or an equivalent) allowing the execution of the above-mentioned animal experiments, have experience with mouse models, immunohistological and molecular biology techniques, hold a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree, and have a strong motivation and team spirit. They should have the enthusiasm and driving force to bring a scientific question to the utmost end. English skills written and spoken are mandatory.
