The Department of Medical Parasitology and Infection Biology (MPI) explores the biology of pathogens that cause diseases of poverty, aiming to develop new diagnostic tools, drugs, and vaccines. Within the Helminth Drug Development Unit of MPI, we are offering a Postdoc Position in Analytical Chemistry and Pharmacokinetics for a dedicated multidisciplinary scientist. The position is based in Allschwil in the group of Jennifer Keiser.

Helminths cause a significant public health burden yet treatment options are limited, and their efficacy is partly unsatisfactory. In the framework of a Bill and Melinda Gates project we aim to study the activity of antimalarials (alone and in combination) against schistosomiasis in the mouse model, Sensitive, selective and rapid liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) methods will be developed to quantify the compounds from mouse plasma and pharmacokinetic parameters investigated.
