Since January 2010, the Infrastructure Management Group (IMG) has been engaged in research and teaching in the field of infrastructure management. Due to recent growth, we are offering a post-doctoral position in the area of research and teaching to join our team in February 2023.


Project background

Infrastructure includes the fixed physical objects and networks that ensure the functioning of a society, e.g. bridges in the road network, railroad tracks in the rail network, and pipes in the water connection or wastewater network. Infrastructure management includes all the necessary activities and processes that guarantee that existing infrastructure objects and networks provide an adequate level of service over a given period of time. It considers the relationship between infrastructure benefits and costs for all members of society, in economic and environmental as well as social terms. This implies a balance between the need for predictive accuracy and the analysis effort.


Job description

You, as Senior Assistant, will be generally involved in teaching and research. Teaching, which will include lecturing and supervision of students will be at both the Bachelor's and Master's level. In research, you will be co-supervise PhD students, participate in writing research proposals and leading research project at both the national and international level.


Your profile
  • You have a PhD in civil engineering / spatial planning with a focus on infrastructure from ETH or an equivalent university, a high level of motivation, organizational skills and initiative.
  • You are able to write competently in English and being able to communicate in German is a bonus.
  • You enjoy working independently and are outgoing and open-minded.
  • You are looking forward to working in an international research team.
