Post-doctoral position in Glucose metabolism in brains cells upon ketogenic diet (W/M)

Updated: about 1 year ago
Deadline: The position may have been removed or expired!

The aim of the EPFL Blue Brain Project (BBP), a Swiss brain research initiative founded and directed by Professor Henry Markram, is to establish simulation neuroscience as a complementary approach alongside experimental, theoretical and clinical neuroscience to understanding the brain, by building the world’s first biologically detailed digital reconstructions and simulations of the mouse brain.

The position: Glucose metabolism in brain cells Postdoctoral Scholar W/M is open to reinforce the Membrane Systems team.

Ketogenic diet is a low-carb high fat diet that is emerging as an efficient therapy for some neurological disorders (epilepsy, Alzheimer, depression …). Exploring the effect of ketogenic diet on brain metabolism would help to understand the metabolism of a healthy brain. We have established and validated an in-house model of ketogenic diet in mouse; the goal is to measure the concentration of key molecules involved in brain metabolism (glucose, glycogen, lactate, pyruvate …..), in the brain tissues as well as in specialized cell populations such as neurons and astrocytes. Additional analysis of protein expression, glycosylation profiling will be also planned.
