, Prof. Dr. J. Wang). The successful candidate will be hosted by Empa (Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Testing and Research) and will also work at the Institute of Environmental Engineering, ETH Zürich.

The research will be developing sensors for airborne biological agents such as bacteria and viruses and sensors for biomedical applications. Modern sensors are needed to effectively control airborne pathogens. Our group has developed plasmonic and electrochemical sensors for bioaerosols. We plan to continue the development with cutting edge technologies and improve the sensing performance continuously. The tasks include

  • To apply our plasmonic and electrochemical sensor for environmental monitoring and risk assessment.
  • Further development of accurate, reliable and small on-line sensors for airborne pathogens.
  • Development of sensors for biomedical applications.

The candidate is expected to further advance the research in the laboratory and supervise students.

We are looking for suitable candidates with a doctoral degree in electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, environmental engineering, material science or related fields with excellent academic records. Interested candidates should have strong research backgrounds and solid independent research ability. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are required.

We look forward to receiving your online application including a letter of motivation, list of publications, CV, a complete academic transcript including undergraduate and graduate courses, copies of diploma/certificates, contact information of 2-3 potential referees and a short description of research interests.
