University of Zurich's Center of Dental Medicine is one of the four dental university centers of Switzerland. It has approximately 380 employees and comprises six clinics, a central administration department as well as the Institute of Oral Biology.
The vacant position is at the Orofacial Development and Regeneration Unit of the Institute of Oral Biology (research team of Professor Thimios Mitsiadis).

The Institute is located in the Center of Dental Medicine (ZZM) with full access to the Transgenic animal facilities of UZH, state-of-the-art core facilities for Cell Culture, Histology, Imaging, Functional Genomics, and Molecular Biology.
Of particular interest is research relating to tooth development and regeneration and the functional analysis of genes expressed during odontogenesis and tooth repair. Our research team actively investigates the role of dental stem cells using both human cells and cells from a variety of transgenic mouse models. To this end, histology, stem cell biology, in vivo genetic analyses and modern imaging technology are being used.
Your responsibilities
We seek candidates whose primary responsibility will be to drive research projects in molecular biology, experimental embryology, stem cell biology on topics covering the field of tooth development and regeneration. Responsibilities will include leading research projects that promote collaboration with other members of our research group, leading members of the Departments of ZZM, the University of Zurich and other national and international Universities.
Your profile
(I) a Ph.D, (II) a minimum of 2 years' experience beyond PhD training in fields such as molecular biology, genetics, developmental biology, stem cell biology, (III) the applicant is expected to be able to instruct at undergraduate Master students and PhD candidates, (IV) demonstrate scientific independence and collegial interactions, (V) demonstrate complementary research to enable collaborations with the different groups of the Institute and affiliate departments of ZZM.
What we offer
The salary will be according to the UZH scale. The contract is initially for 1 year, with the option for extension.
