The main objective of this position will be to develop cutting edge materials and processes for advanced 3D printing and microstructural control of ceramic parts. Hereby, the project requirements and testing procedures will be set and done in close contact with our leading Swiss industrial partners from the biomedical as well as the precision part manufacturing fields.
For this challenging position, a successful candidate will be responsible for developing, testing and specifying new processing routes for advanced ceramics at highest standards. Using novel powder processing, shaping and firing approaches for alumina and zirconia ceramics, the aim will be to deliver working and reliable solutions to our industrial partners to innovate in their respective fields, and foster value for their customers. To be successful, the candidate will require an in-depth knowledge in powder characterization and slurry formulation/processing, DLVO theory, polymer chemistry, 3D printing and sintering. Hands-on experience with stereolithography based ceramic shaping techniques, mechanical testing, microstructural and porosity characterization is desired.
For this demanding project, we are looking for a highly motivated candidate with a Ph.D. in ceramics, materials science or chemistry. The ideal candidate needs to be fluent in English (oral and written) and preferably have basic knowledge of German and French.
