The Center for Microscopy and Image Analysis (ZMB) of the University of Zurich has an immediate opening for a Microscopy Specialist.
The ZMB provides access, training and education in state-of-the-art light and electron microscopy to more than 800 users per year. Approximately 40 advanced microscopes enable a broad range of imaging modalities: from lightsheet, multiphoton, high content screening, super resolution, correlative light, and electron microscopy to cryo electron microscopy. In addition, a virtualized computing infrastructure gives researchers access to powerful image analysis solutions. The focus of this position is on techniques, instrumentation and expertise in light and electron microscopy, including sample preparation.
Your responsibilities
- Teaching and training of users in microscopy
- Teaching and training on sample preparation techniques for microscopy
- Further development of sample preparation for microscopy.
- Supporting users in handling and analyzing microscopic data and images
- Coordinating service and maintenance of advanced microscopes
- Active participation in the development of the Center
Your profile
- Experience in microscopy and microscopy-related applications.
- Experience in image processing, scripting and programming will be considered an advantage.
- Strong motivation to support and train users with a problem-solving mindset.
- A completed master in a life science curriculum is required. A PhD is not mandatory.
- A work permit for Switzerland or the EU is mandatory.
What we offer
This entry level position is a fulltime position, part time upon negotiation.
Salary and other terms and conditions of appointment are set according to the University of Zurich's general classification guidelines for academic positions as well as the job profile for this position.
