Your position

You will be part of a Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) project “Learning-based 3D Infant Face and Head Model for Medical Applications”. The overall aim of the project is the development of an algorithm to generate individualized reference morphology in treatment of infants with craniofacial malformations.

The position is especially suited for surgeons at their early career with clinical and academic interests in pediatric craniofacial anomalies. You will be part of the Facial and Cranial Anomalies group, led by PD Dr. Dr. Andreas Müller, PhD (Link ), in affiliation with the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Department of Clinical Research. The project is in close collaboration with the Computer Graphics Laboratory at ETH Zürich (Barbara Solenthaler, PhD), who will develop a fully virtual infant face and head model. The tasks will cover several aspects from validating the model in clinical and surgical setting to conduct clinical research, using the model. Upon meeting the requirements for enrollment at the Medical Faculty, pursuit of a doctorate in medicine is encouraged (Link ).

Your tasks

  • Extraction and registration of data from medical records
  • Pre-processing and analysis of 3D images and clinical records
  • Evaluation of the model for studying pediatric craniofacial anomalies
  • Engagement in clinical practice in pediatric oral and maxillofacial surgery
