We are looking for a  Locomotion Software intern to join our fast-paced software development team. We are a team of robotics software engineers with vast knowledge of robotics algorithms. We diligently strive for a robust, highly performant and user-friendly system, and constantly come up with new ways to optimize working with our robots.


Project background

ANYbotics transforms the energy, process, and construction sector by introducing robotics to a wide range of novel applications that so far were beyond reach. Our end customers are large asset operators and service providers of industrial plants, Pioneering the use of robotics technology for inspection and maintenance. Our products enable autonomous routine inspections and monitoring of large scale industrial facilities for increased safety and productivity. Our mobile robot ANYmal uses legs for extreme mobility in complex environments, camera- and LIDAR-based sensing for full autonomy and obstacle avoidance, and AI for high-quality and consistent inspection results. As One Team we have proven the technology and the business impact to our customers in long-term pilot projects and are preparing to scale-up sales of our commercial product.


Job description

The locomotion and manipulation team designs real-time control algorithms for ANYmal to traverse challenging terrains and interact with its environment. During the internship you’ll learn and apply state-of-the art Machine Learning algorithms to solve real-world robotics problems. The preferred starting date is April and the duration of the full-time paid internship is approximately six months. 


Your profile
  • Currently a master, PhD student or recent graduate in computer science, robotics, or related fields
  • Motivated to improve your understanding of the state-of-the-art robotics technology applied to real world problems
  • You are well versed in Machine Learning  and have experience using PyTorch and/or Tensorflow
  • You have completed a robotics project, applying Machine Learning to solve control problems
  • Additional experience in robotics or software engineering  is a bonus
  • Self-driven, with good communication skills
  • Fluent in English
