Your mission :

The aim of the EPFL Blue Brain Project (BBP), a Swiss brain research initiative founded and directed by Professor Henry Markram, is to establish simulation neuroscience as a complementary approach alongside experimental, theoretical and clinical neuroscience to understanding the brain, by building the world’s first biologically detailed digital reconstructions and simulations of the mouse brain.


Main duties and responsibilities include :
  • Work closely with BBP scientists and data providers to acquire, curate and validate data with high quality metadata within BBP knowledge graphs and 3D brain atlases
  • Contribute to the development of data and knowledge structures (e.g. schemas, models, ontologies) for improving data quality and to support reasoning with knowledge graphs
  • Coordinate the development and release of data products for scientific and machine learning use cases
  • Implement best-practices for maintainable data products and deliver production quality code following best-practices for maintainable software development

Experience and preferred skills:
  • Expertise in Python and its data science ecosystem
  • Experience in curating, annotating and wrangling with large scale scientific data
  • Good team player and excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience with large scale data integration in the life sciences,
Experience in any of the following areas would be a plus:
  • Semantic web technologies and languages (RDF, OWL, SPARQL, SHACL, Triple Store, Graph database)
  • Neuroscience or Biology
  • Hands-on experience in graph analytics and methods for machine learning on graphs.
  • Experience with Graph Databases (Property graphs such as Neo4J, Triple stores)
Profile:
  • Master degree or PHD in Neuroscience, Biology, Computer Science, Physics/Chemistry
  • At least 2 years of relevant professional experience,
  • English written and spoken
