The Institute of Medical Genetics at the University of Zurich is looking for a research technician to provide core support to our functional research team.
Your responsibilities
  • Maintenance of lab supplies and equipment
  • Produce, maintain, and characterize human induced-pluripotent cells (iPSCs)
  • Assist with gene editing of iPSCs (CRISPR/Cas9)
  • Assist with differentiation of iPSCs to neurons
  • Standard molecular biology and biochemical techniques, including DNA and RNA extraction, PCR/qPCR, Sanger sequencing, cloning, Western Blot, ELISA, immunostainings

Your profile
Ideally, you have a "Laborant/in" degree or a Bachelor/Master degree in biology or a related topic. We are looking for somebody with good technical expertise in molecular and cell biology techniques (at least 1-2 years of experience) who genuinely enjoys challenging cell culture work and has overall a great sense of responsibility.
A good command of English is required (German is definitely a plus).

You will become part of a small international research team in a particularly friendly and supportive work environment. We have a well-equipped research and cell culture lab, and will provide a thorough introduction for all required administrative tasks and laboratory methods.
The position can be filled part-time or full-time (50-100%). Once in a while, a few hours of weekend work will be required for cell culture experiments.
