Head of IC-IT Services (M/W) – 100%

Your mission :

As head of IC-IT Services, you will be reporting to the Head of IC’s General Services. You will work in close collaboration with research laboratories, teaching staff, administrative units, other EPFL Schools and central information systems services or platforms. You will be in charge of managing the IC-IT Services unit, including its budget, team, contracts, service agreements, operations, and investments.

The clients consist of 500+ internal employees dispatched in administrative units and research labs in IC School, College of Management, College of Humanities, and a total of over 3’000 students.

Main duties and responsibilities include :

• Manage IT infrastructures, software application developments and deliver effective and high-quality hardware and software support services for the employees and students stated above
• Ensure IT Security for IC School, two Colleges and several centers, as member of the EPFL Commission de Sécurité Informatique and its crisis unit
• Manage the IC-IT team of 12 people composed of engineers, technicians, assistant and apprentices
• Represent the IC School in EPFL’s IT transversal coordination structure between different stakeholders in the areas of EPFL global IT strategy, security, services, collaborative projects and processes
• Lead IC’s internal IT Services related steering committees
• Coordinate projects within IC and in collaboration with other EPFL services and units
• Manage the IC School computer classrooms, in collaboration with teachers (300 computers in 6 classrooms)
• Manage the IC-IT budget
• Purchase material and manage public tenders

Your profile :

• Substantial experience in managing IT hardware/software services and IT security for a similarly sized company or academic department
• Bachelor or Master degree in the IT field
• Any other ITIL or IT management related certification is an asset
• Capability to work in English and French, both written and spoken, is mandatory
• Experience in team leadership and budget management
• Experience in matrix organizations with both line and functional reporting
• Capability to set up and supervise transversal project teams
• Ability to quickly learn and manage the adoption of new technologies
• Creative, efficient, highly motivated, self-driven, self-organized, and comfortable in evolving environments
• Excellent interpersonal skills and excellent communicator with an ability to manage various stakeholders and motivate a wide range of people
• A desire to work with top researchers developing leading edge Computer Science and Communication Systems technologies
