The Swiss Data Science Center  was founded through a strategic focus area of the ETH Board and has offices at EPFL, ETH Zurich and the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI). Our mission is to help academic teams and industries leverage data science and state-of-the-art machine learning. In other words, SDSC aims at bridging the gap between those who create data, those who develop data analytics and systems, and those who could potentially extract value from it.


Project background

The center is composed of a large and diverse multi-disciplinary team. We are looking for a part-time executive assistant for the head of our Academic group. You will be located in our Zurich office.


Job description

You will manage the organization work in a young and growing office, with a focus on the specific needs of our large and diverse academic group.

The job includes a variety of tasks:

  • Liaise with the administrative staff of the laboratories of the ETH Domain that we are collaborating with and manage the administrative aspects of the research projects, including bi-annual financial and progress reporting
  • Reach out to and follow-up with external parties associated with the research projects. For example, ensure a smooth and on-time evaluation process with external reviewers
  • Together with the Office Manager of the Zurich office, help with the whole hiring process of candidates, with the accreditation of guests, give advice and support employees and guests

  • Your profile

    You have a commercial education -- minimum KV or higher Business School, Bachelor’s degree, and a minimum of 5 years of professional background in a similar role with administrative management experience (incl. HR and finances tasks), preferably in an academic environment.
    We seek for an upright and independent working person who has strong organizational and interpersonal skills. At times, you will have to manage a high workload while keeping an eye on details. Your love for your job will help create a good and inspiring working atmosphere in our Zurich office. The working languages will be English and German. Very good abilities in speaking and writing are required in both languages.
