Open position for a Drone Research Engineer at the Robotics & Perception Group at the Institute of Informatics at University of Zurich.
Your responsibilities
  • Develop electrical and mechanical prototypes for various computer vision and drone applications
  • Work with top researchers to determine requirements for novel electrical and mechanical prototypes
  • Mechanical design of novel robot platforms including concept, CAD and prototyping
  • Setting up and conducting experiments in the lab and in the field
  • Review field failures and identify root causes for future improvements
  • Continuous improvements of our robot platforms
  • Code reviewing, code optimization and implementation of new features
  • Responsible for maintaining our robot fleet, demos, and workshop
  • Full time, but part time applicants will be considered

Your profile
  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. (FH/ETH) in Electrical Eng., Mechanical Eng., or in a related field
  • Knowledge of C/C++ and Python
  • Experience in circuit design, PCB layout, soldering and hardware prototyping
  • Experience in 3D CAD software and mechanical design
  • Mechanical skills are a plus
  • Prior experience with robot systems is a plus
  • Ability to work organized and independently
  • Good communication skills in English
