The Institute of Technology in Architecture (ITA) is a leading platform for research and teaching of technology in architecture, in disciplines such as structural design, digital fabrication, energy and building systems, building processes and computational design. The eight professorships and 200 members of ITA are involved in leading global research projects such as the Singapore-ETH Future Cities Lab , the EU Climate KIC and the Swiss Competence Center of Energy Research (SCCER) . With four connected lab facilities, ITA features a globally unique experimental research infrastructure. The Robotic Fabrication Laboratory (RFL) , the 3D Printing Lab, the Concrete Materials Lab and the Adaptive Building Systems Lab constitute a network of connected laboratories.
To take responsibility for communications as well as for internal and external public relations, the ITA is hiring a Communications Specialist (50-60%) to begin as soon as possible.


Job description

In this position, you are responsible to coordinate internal and external communication activities, including editing and translations, social media postings, website updates, as well as public relations and media work. Furthermore, you will coordinate the budgeting and communication of the institute's events, e.g. the regular institute lectures ("ITA on..." with up to 200 guests) and other events. In addition, you will coordinate guided tours for ETH Zurich's internal and external guests as well as large events with external organisations hosted in the Institute's building. You will be part of regular meetings with representatives of all institute units (eight professorships, research network NCCR Digital Fabrication and laboratory teams) as well as with the department, other ETH units and the ETH Foundation. The organisation and promotion of Architecture & Technology (A&T) Doctoral Fellowships - update calls, advertise internally and externally, handle the application process, organise interviews, communicate with candidates, etc. will be also a duty of yours. You will serve as an information point and you are the interface between A&T PhD Fellows, doctoral candidates, postdocs and Oberassistents and doctoral administration, ETH administration and professors.


Your profile
  • Highly organised, open and communicative person
  • Comfortable and resilient in a high-paced environment
  • Previous experience in a communications role
  • Excellent English language skills are required (at least C1 spoken and C2 written)
  • Excellent German language skills (C1 spoken and written)
  • Experience in an academic/university environment is helpful but not required
  • Interest in architecture, design, technology and/or engineering is a plus
